Geneva Lake ManorAlisa Palmer, Assistant Director of Nursing I have been in long term care for since 1995. I started my career in health care as a CAN, while going to nursing school at Gateway Technical College. I graduated in 1997 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. I have had many roles in long term care. Long term care has surely evolved over the years. With the increase in medically unstable residents, came a love for wound care and I became Wound Care Certified in 2007. I started at Geneva Lake Manor in 2008 and wear many hats at the nursing home with focus on wound care, infection control, weight patrol and restorative nursing. The greatest part of Geneva Lake Manor is the family atmosphere. My six year old daughter loves to visit the residents and they're days are brightened with the presence of children. This is another very positive experience of my job. I also bring my boxer "Bo" to work with me on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Pet therapy is also such a positive aspect of resident life at the nursing home. He has become part of the Geneva Lake Manor family. |
